Hearing Loss and Risk Factors in Dentistry
Hearing loss is a significant risk for dental professionals due to prolonged exposure to high-frequency noises from equipment like drills and ultrasonic scalers, which can exceed recommended safe decibel levels. Dr. Ramsey will discuss key risk factors including duration of expo-sure, the intensity of the sounds, and lack of consistent use of hearing protection devices.

Bio: Kent L. Ramsey, M.D.
Dr. Ramsey graduated from The Ohio State University School of Medicine after receiving the Rusoof Academic Achievement Award for being the first in his class. He completed his internship and residency at Stanford University Medicine Cen-ter. He has been a clinical assistant professor of surgery at the North-eastern Ohio University College of Medicine and has been published in several medical journals. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. He practices general otolaryngology and has special interests in otology, pediatrics, and sleep apnea. He is a Canton native and a Hoover High School graduate. He is very active in his church and enjoys working at his horse farm and playing guitar in a classic rock band.
